In January 2018 the National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI), a Sociopolitical Thinktank in the US, is launching a study panel focused on fleshing out policy design options for state-based LTSS programmes in the US. A national LTSS social insurance programme would be much more efficient than a state-based one, especially given that many workers move from state to state. A national LTSS social insurance programme would be much more efficient than a state-based one, especially given that many workers move from state to state.
Several states are considering introducing their own state-based social insurance programmes for LTSS, and the NASI study panel will help them design these policies. Heinz Rothgang has been invited to join the Working Group and advise on the basis of his German experience.
